FIVE PRACTICE QUESTIONS

A 24 VDC two-wire circuit carries a lumped 1.20 A load at its end. The one-way length is 250 ft and each conductor has 2.525 Ω/1,000 ft resistance. Ignoring other losses, what voltage reaches the load?

  1. 23.24 V
  2. 20.97 V
  3. 21.00 V
  4. 22.49 V

The calculated unadjusted demand is 12.00 Ah. The specified capacity multiplier is 1.20. The manufacturer supports 12, 14, 18, and 24 Ah batteries. What is the smallest supported capacity meeting these assumptions?

  1. 12 Ah
  2. 14 Ah
  3. 18 Ah
  4. 24 Ah

Eight synchronized appliances each draw a listed 0.092 A at the selected setting. Their synchronization module draws 0.020 A from the same output. What is the total output load?

  1. 0.756 A
  2. 0.736 A
  3. 0.896 A
  4. 0.716 A

A 120 ft straight corridor qualifies for wall-mounted corridor spacing. The adopted criteria require a strobe within 15 ft of each end and no more than 100 ft between strobes. Which proposed two-device placement meets both conditions?

  1. 10 ft and 115 ft from the start
  2. 15 ft and 105 ft from the start
  3. 20 ft and 100 ft from the start
  4. 5 ft and 115 ft from the start

During testing, strobes on two separately powered circuits flash consistently but drift out of step within the same room. Both circuits use identical listed appliances. Which review most directly addresses the observed issue?

  1. Compare conductor sizes and total circuit lengths
  2. Compare appliance current at the selected candela
  3. Check continuity of both circuit return conductors
  4. Check synchronization wiring between the power supplies

LEVEL II SAMPLE REVIEW

Turn the field numbers into a defensible answer

Use this Level 2 (Level II) practice sample to check your reasoning on the topics below. These are sample review topics, not a complete official exam outline.

Write the units before calculating

Keep amps, milliamps, hours, minutes, feet, and ohms consistent. Many plausible wrong answers come from using one-way conductor length, failing to convert alarm minutes, or omitting an auxiliary load.

Read the operating condition

A circuit that operates on primary power still needs evaluation under required secondary-power conditions. Distinguish nominal voltage from the documented voltage available to the circuit during the condition being checked.

Check the placement constraints together

A corridor layout must satisfy both end offsets and device separation under its applicable reference. Meeting one constraint does not establish the other. Room and corridor methods are separate decisions.

For a complete preparation plan, compare your review with NICET’s official Level II content outline. Use the references permitted for your scheduled exam.

Make the review count

Documentation, troubleshooting, circuit loads, and system interfaces. Use each missed question to choose a subject for deeper review in your references. These scenarios include field judgment and calculation review; a short sample cannot assess certification readiness.
